How do I vote?

In the UK, there are three different ways you can vote. How you vote is up to you. It may depend on what you find easiest or the most convenient method. Most people vote in person at a polling station. However, if you are not able to go to the polling station in person on election day, you can apply to vote by post or by proxy (someone voting on your behalf).

Q. Where did you train as a Beauty Therapist?

A. I trained at the Roberta Mechan College of Beauty.

Q. When did you qualify?

A. June 1989.

Q. When did you open your business?

A. I opened my salon in November 1989.

Q. You have been in business now for over 20 years now, how have you managed to grow in this time?

A. I started off 20 years ago with a small 1st floor premise with 2 treatment rooms. In 1993 I managed to expand my salon to the ground floor with 4 treatment rooms, and in 2005 I opened Jeanette Kidd Beauty and Day Spa, which currently has 10 treatment rooms.

Q. Tell us of some recent successes you have achieved?

A. Last year Jeanette Kidd Beauty and Day Spa was the winner of the Independent Retailer Customer Service Award at the Lisburn City Business Awards 2009, and only last month I was very proud to win the Decleor salon of the year 2009, which is an all Ireland title.

Both these achievements are testament to the hard work and dedication of my staff who are extremely professional in what they do. I started off being one of only two Decleor agents in Ireland, now with there being 380 in total, this award is extra special to me.

Q. Sounds like you have had a very busy 20 years, have you any plans to slow down?

A. Well I have three children now and I only work part time, but I have no intentions of slowing down any time soon!
